At iWALKFree, we want to bring hands-free mobility to everyone. There are, however, some limitations on what we can do.
Your safety is our first concern. The iWALK crutch was carefully engineered and tested to assure that it's safe with a maximum user weight of 275 pounds. So why only 275 pounds? Why don’t we make a heavy-duty version of the iWALK crutch? Good questions - here’s why:
WEIGHT - A heavy-duty iWALK would weigh significantly more than the standard iWALK, which increases fatigue and adaptation challenges.
COST - A high capacity iWALK crutch would be considerably more expensive than a standard capacity iWALK, which would make it unaffordable for many people.
STABILITY / EASE OF USE / SAFETY - We have learned that as body mass increases, the stability and ease of use diminishes to the point that many plus-sized people cannot adapt to the iWALK crutch. Ultimately the iWALK crutch must be safe and effective in order to help you, and thus far, we have not found a solution that provides an acceptable level of performance.
We're constantly working to improve our products, and our goal is that someday we will be capable of providing people over 275 pounds with a hands-free crutch that performs to their satisfaction. Until then, the maximum weight limit of the iWALK crutch is 275 pounds.
Here's more important info for users around or over the weight limit.
